How cooperation works

1. Situation review

We clarify the employee’s citizenship, location, position, planned start date and the employer’s situation.

2. Document list

We prepare the list of documents and information required for the specific visa or residence permit procedure.

3. Preparation and submission

We prepare the documents for submission to PMLP and help track the process until a decision is made.

4. Employee starts work

The goal is for the employee to begin official work in Latvia as quickly as possible without unnecessary delays.

Visa / residence permit

Visa

  • Short-term visa — for a period of up to three months, not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.
  • Long-term visa — for a period of up to one year.
  • A visa is chosen when the employee is not planned to be employed long-term, a probation period applies or duties must start as soon as possible.
  • The invitation is valid for 6 months from the approval date.

Residence permit

  • Issued for a period of up to five years.
  • The residence permit card must be renewed annually.
  • Chosen when the employee is planned to be employed long-term.
  • When a residence permit is granted, the person is registered in the Register of Natural Persons and receives a personal identity number.
